A Cheap and Protein-Packed Snack: Monkey Nuts

If you’re looking for an affordable source of protein, especially if you’re vegetarian and want to increase your protein intake, I have a great suggestion for you: monkey nuts, or peanuts.

In a typical big supermarket, 500 grams of peanuts costs around £2.50. And here’s the best part, each 100 grams contains 25.7 grams of protein. That means over a quarter of the nut is pure protein.

Yes, peanuts do contain carbohydrates as well, roughly 10 grams per 100 grams. That is quite a bit, but remember, most people can have between 20 to 50 grams of carbs daily, so peanuts fit well within that range as a snack.

If you’re after a hearty snack, just unshell the monkey nuts and pop them in the oven (if they’re not already roasted) for 12 to 15 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius. Then enjoy!

I couldn’t find organic peanuts in store, but here's the Amazon link to the product: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0D1RFHNMG/
