There are two forms of thiamine commonly used in vitamin B1 supplements - thiamine hydrochloride and thiamine mononitrate. Both are synthetic; however, thiamine hydrochloride (HCl) is water-soluble, unlike thiamine mononitrate, making it much more effective as the body can absorb it easier.
