What Supplements Should We Take? (Part 3)

Today, we’re diving into an important question: Do you need supplements even if you're feeling healthy and happy? The answer is a big YES! In this post, we'll focus on one key supplement you may not be paying enough attention to—magnesium.

Why Magnesium Matters

Magnesium is one of the most underrated minerals out there. Unlike calcium, which often takes the spotlight, magnesium doesn't get the same attention, but it should. The truth is, most of us are deficient in magnesium, and that can have a significant impact on our health. This isn’t because we’re not eating enough vegetables; it’s because modern farming practices have depleted the soil of magnesium, making it harder to get sufficient amounts from diet alone.

We need at least 375 mg of magnesium daily, which is more than most people consume.

So, why should you care about getting enough magnesium? Here are a few key reasons:

The Best Type of Magnesium

Not all magnesium supplements are created equal. The most bioavailable (i.e., easily absorbed) form of magnesium is the marine version, which comes from seawater. This version is highly absorbable, making it the most effective option for supplementation.

Supplements Aren’t a Diet Substitute

One final note: supplements are not a replacement for a balanced diet. Don’t rely on supplements to compensate for poor eating habits. Focus on reducing carbs and cutting out sugar, while increasing your intake of protein and vegetables. If you do this, you might not even need supplements, but they can help fill in nutritional gaps when necessary.
