The Supplements I Take to Manage Osteoarthritis, Raynaud’s, and Psoriasis
Hi everyone! I’m Hala Ali from Dietapplements, and today I want to dive into a topic that’s really close to my heart—managing the health conditions I live with through supplements. From joint pain to skin conditions, it’s taken me a while to find a routine that works for me. But, through trial and error, I’ve learned which supplements I can’t live without.
While I won’t be sharing this post on my dating apps (for obvious reasons!), I thought it might be helpful to anyone out there dealing with similar issues. So, what supplements do I take to manage my skeleton and skin diseases, and do I need more than the average person? Unfortunately, yes, I do. Let me explain why.
Osteoarthritis & Achilles Tendon Injury: My Must-Have Supplement
One of the main conditions I manage is osteoarthritis, and I also have an injured Achilles tendon. As someone who enjoys staying active, not being able to play tennis due to these issues would be a huge blow. To keep the pain and inflammation in check, I rely on a powerful combination of glucosamine, chondroitin, and turmeric.
The glucosamine sulphate dose I take is one of the highest on the market, at 1865mg. This formula helps relieve my joint aches and keeps inflammation to a minimum. Without this supplement, managing osteoarthritis and my Achilles injury would be so much harder.
If you’re curious about which specific brand I use, I’ve linked the supplement in the description below, so feel free to check it out.
Raynaud’s Disease: Managing Without Medication
Next on the list is Raynaud’s disease. If you live in the UK, you might already be familiar with it—many people here have it, especially during winter. Raynaud’s affects blood circulation, mainly in the fingers and toes, causing them to go numb or change colour in cold weather. For me, I’ve managed to keep it under control without medication so far.
The supplement that’s helped me the most with Raynaud’s is Vitamin B3 (Niacin). Niacin has been shown to reduce the frequency and severity of Raynaud’s attacks, and for now, it’s been working well for me. If you’re struggling with Raynaud’s, it might be worth considering Niacin as part of your routine.
Psoriasis: Fighting the Flares
I also deal with psoriasis on my toes and hands. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that causes red, itchy patches. It’s not fun, and unfortunately, there’s no cure for it. However, I’ve found that certain supplements help manage flare-ups.
To keep my psoriasis in check, I take Vitamin C and collagen. These are part of a multivitamin supplement that’s really helped support my skin health. While it’s not a cure, it makes the condition a little easier to live with.
Final Thoughts
So, there you have it! These are the key supplements I take to manage osteoarthritis, an Achilles tendon injury, Raynaud’s disease, and psoriasis. If any of these conditions resonate with you, I hope this post has been helpful. Remember, what works for me might not work for everyone, so it’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional before adding new supplements to your routine.
